Native Doctor Nabbed While Fleeing After Gruesome Discovery in Enugu

A shocking case out of Enugu State has stunned the nation, as a native doctor identified as Obi Levi Obieze, also known as Ezeani, was arrested while trying to escape the country through the Seme border. The arrest followed a horrifying discovery in his hometown, Umumba Ndiagu in Ezeagu Local Government Area, where several decomposing bodies—including those of a pregnant woman and children—were found buried in a pit within his compound.

The gruesome find came to light after a 13-year-old girl, who had been kidnapped while on her way to the farm with her father, was rescued from a shrine allegedly linked to the suspect. The incident triggered a manhunt after Ezeani fled the community.

Thanks to the vigilance of Prince Orji Ugochukwu, an immigration officer popularly known as Okeosisi Ugo, Ezeani was apprehended at a checkpoint near the Seme border in Badagry. Disguised and attempting to cross the border by motorcycle, the suspect tried to deny his identity when questioned. However, immigration officers found a national ID enrollment slip on him, confirming who he was.

In a desperate bid to secure his release, Ezeani allegedly offered Ugochukwu a bribe of ₦10 million, along with two smartphones, but the officer rejected the offer and handed him over to security authorities.

The arrest has drawn widespread praise online, with Nigerians hailing Ugochukwu as a hero for upholding his duty with integrity. Meanwhile, investigations into Ezeani’s alleged crimes are ongoing, with many demanding justice for the victims.

Tinubu Marks Two Years in Office Amid Praise and Criticism

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently marked his second year in office with a national address that highlighted key actions taken by his administration. Tinubu emphasized major reforms aimed at economic recovery, including the removal of subsidies and efforts to unify the naira exchange rate.

He touted the launch of several infrastructure projects, such as the ambitious Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, as signs of progress. In terms of national security, he claimed Nigeria has seen relative improvement, though critics and watchdogs continue to point to widespread insecurity and thousands of lives lost to violence.

One of the most controversial moves under his administration came with the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, where the elected governor was suspended and replaced by a military administrator. The president defended the decision as necessary for restoring order and peace.

Supporters believe Tinubu is laying the groundwork for long-term change, while detractors argue that his reforms have led to more suffering for everyday Nigerians. Nonetheless, the ruling APC party has already thrown its weight behind a possible second-term bid ahead of the 2027 elections.
